False Promises: The Lost Land of the Wenatchi

This CD is the companion soundtrack for the documentary film of the same name, by Rustin Thompson of White Noise Productions, Seattle, Washington. The film chronicles the failure of the United States to honor Wenatchi treaty rights, as well as the tribe's ongoing struggle to have their fishing and land rights recognized by the United States.

This soundtrack received the 2002 Northwest Regional Emmy award for best musical composer. The film also received nomination for two other Emmy awards.

Reviews:

"...heartbreakingly beautiful. The mark of a good soundtrack is that it complements the images well and does not overtake the story. Your music does that."

--Rustin Thompson, White Noise Productions

"...beautiful, soulful, original. Her gentle orchestrations contribute greatly to the story line, and elegantly support the documentary film.."

--Stuart Dempster, Professor Emeritus, University of Washington School of Music

"Congratulations to Lynette Westendorf for capturing the ineffable and translating it into music!"

--Jovino Santos Neto, Pianist, Composer, Educator

"I thank you very much, my Grandma would be very proud of what you have done."

--John St. Pierre, Colville Federated Tribes
